CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION The Trade, Investment, Science and Technology Section of the Commercial and Economic Division has a requirement for a Business Development Officer (Health Industries) to join its team, based at Grosvenor Square, London W1. CLOSING DATE: Monday, 26 July 2010 Job Summary: Essential Requirements: University degree in health sciences, international business/marketing, economics or related discipline. Previous commercial experience in international trade promotion. Minimum of 4 years related commercial experience in UK working/business environment. Experience with sales and marketing and investment promotion as related to health industries, including medical and healthcare technologies, products and services (medical devices, equipment, etc.), pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, clinical trials and other related areas. Strong project management, customer service, networking skills. Broad knowledge of UK market in order to promote and represent adequately the interests of Canada and Canadian business. Good knowledge of local conditions, practices, policies, procedures and regulations as they relate to the health industries sector. Must have strong communication skills both orally and in writing. English essential. Proven experience in use of a broad range of software packages, including email, word processing and databases. Knowledge of a Windows environment, Outlook, Word and the Internet are particularly relevant. A written test will be administered, only those candidates meeting the required pass mark will proceed to interview Desirable Qualifications: CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Open To: Candidates who are resident in the UK, eligible to work in the UK, meet all of the essential requirements stated above, and whose applications are received by the closing date. Those candidates holding visas that are not renewable in the UK, such as participants in the Youth Mobility Program, will not be considered for this employment. The High Commission does not reimburse any travel costs. The Canadian High Commission does not sponsor work permit applications on behalf of candidates.
