PLG WORKSHOPS, AGM & AWARDS NIGHT DINNER

The PLG AGM and 4th Annual Awards Night Dinner took place at the unique and historical Painters’ Hall, London, on 3rd February 2011.

The afternoon began with 2 workshops, the first on the impact of the now delayed Bribery Act and continued by discussing market access across Europe. Copies of both presentations are available in the members area of the PLG website. Both presentations provided many talking points and were enjoyed by all and the PLG would like to pass their thanks to all 4 workshop speakers.

With the introduction of company tables during dinner it was pleasing to see such a good mix of long-time members and guests attending their first meeting combining to a great total of 90 delegates.

After a wonderful dinner, the main event of the evening took place. The AstraZeneca Business Development Executive of the Year award attracted 6 excellent nominations and the judging panel found it hard to whittle them down to just one winner. Paul Pay from Norgine was voted runner-up for his deal involving a NCE in-licence and instigation of a dedicated BD team.

The worthy winner was announced by Shaun Grady, AstraZeneca, as Sean McKercher from Ipsen for his broad range of deals including the innovative transaction with Inspiration including equity stake. Sean was on hand to collect his award and say a few words of thanks to his entire team.

Campbell Wilson, PLG Chairman, had the pleasure of presenting the PLG Best Business Development Newcomer of the Year award to Angela Columbano from Sanofi-Aventis for her impressive start in BD by the assessment of 80 opportunities leading to 7 non-binding offers, 2 due diligence visits and 3 deals.

Congratulations to both Sean and Angela and we hope that next years nominations will meet the high standards set this year.
