PLG has contracted with Medius Training to manage and administer the PLG training courses. Senior licensing executives active in the industry are selected to deliver these courses and all presentations are peer reviewed.  To date more than 400 participants have enjoyed the PLG courses since their inception in 1996.

The main rationale for the PLG courses is to enhance the level of professional skill within the industry rather than to promote and deliver courses for commercial gain. This means that there is a limit to the number of delegates per course and the PLG employs a broad faculty of tutors, each an expert in their own field. At the last count this means we deliver more than 300+ years of business development experience!

The Introductory Licensing Course is a three day training course covering all the essential elements of licensing and business development with a 12 strong faculty providing guidance on best practice and including a practical example of a licensing negotiation.  The course is designed to provide an introduction for executives working either directly or in close liaison with Business Development.  During the course the delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a case study where they are required to negotiate a deal. The Introductory Training Course has a limit of 20 delegates to ensure a high delegate/tutor ratio. (more..)

The Masterclass is designed for those licensing executives who have had some deal experience. It is more interactive than the Introductory Course and is based around in depth analysis of various case studies.  The majority of sessions are tutorial in style to allow real situations/problems to be discussed.  Each course is fine-tuned to meet participants’ needs and time is allowed for particular topics which are of interest to the group to be reviewed in detail.  The advanced training course is for a smaller group of participants to ensure close interaction with the faculty and is limited to 12 delegates. (more..)

The PLG have developed a Masters degree (MSc) in Healthcare Business Development and Licensing. This fits perfectly with the PLG’s role as a professional association seeking to provide its members with both the theory and best practice examples to improve their job skills and effectiveness.
The course uses a distance learning approach with a number of modules in specific disciplines such as legal, IP, finance written by authors who are working at the sharp end of business development.(more..)
